7 December 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has created a new, high-level advisory panel of senior legal figures to advise it and the international community on improving the role of law, justice and good governance in achieving sustainable development, and on engaging the legal and auditing community across the globe in realizing such improvement.

11 December 2012: The Organization of American States (OAS) has announced the 14 recipients of small grants under the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) "Sustainable Communities in Central America and the Caribbean" project.
The Department of Democratic Sustainability and Special Missions of the Organization of American States (OAS) Secretariat will convene a Meeting of Government Experts on the Management of Socio-Environmental Conflict for the Central American and the Andean Regions to reflect, analyze and debate the dynamics of "socio-environmental" conflict in participating member States and possible frameworks for managing such conflicts. The meeting will specific look at citizen participation in public policy formation, prior consultations, early warning systems and dialogue as a tool for socio-environmental conflict management.
15 November 2012: The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) recently held a technical forum discussing five case studies from Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries on climate change and agriculture.
November 2012: The Second Regional Symposium on Energy Efficiency discussed ideas, proposals and priorities of South American countries for potential elements for an Energy and Climate Partnership (ECPA) Work Plan on Regional Cooperation in Energy Efficiency.
The Network for the Advancement of Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability, supported by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Organization of American States (OAS), and World Congress on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability, will hold the first session of the new International Advisory Council under the theme "Collaboration and Synergies in the Implementation of the Rio+20 Declaration on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability". The meeting will feature two discussion panels, one on the advancement of key principles on justice, governance and law for environmental sustainability addressing such issues as public participation and enabling conditions, and the other discussing stakeholders' roles in supporting institutional frameworks from the national to the global level. Panel members will include judges from Argentina, Brazil, Kenya, Malaysia and the Caribbean Court of Justice.
29 November 2012: The Third Session of the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas has adopted a "Communiqué of Santiago: Investing for Resilience," which calls for stepping up efforts to fully implement mechanisms and key actions to accelerate implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) for disaster risk reduction (DRR).
23 November 2012: The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Germany's international cooperation agency (GIZ) and Costa Rica's Environment Ministry (MINAET) are assisting that country's coffee, solid waste management and public transport sectors in preparing Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMAs) for their sectors to gain financing for reducing their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
