November 2011: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has launched an online platform on Policy Coherence for Development (PCD) that aims to act as a “one-stop-shop” on PCD resources, open to all stakeholders.
November 2011: The European Parliament has published a study titled “The Role of Regional Policy in Addressing the Effects of Climate Change in Outermost Regions,” which explores potential effects of climate change on the EU Outermost regions, and presents the measures and initiatives within EU Regional Policy supporting mitigation and/or adaption measures in these regions.
November 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) has published submissions from the Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS), Pacific Island Forum (PIF) member States and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), representing each group's input to the UNCSD Compilation Document.
The Organization of American States (OAS), as a co-sponsor of the World Congress on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability, which will convene in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 1-3 June 2012, is conducting a series of "hemispheric dialogues" on sustainable development themes, intended to generate recommendations on institutions and governance for sustainable development for both the Congress and the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), which will convene immediately following the Conference. The second in the series will address "Governance and Public Participation and Gender Mainstreaming in Sustainable Development Decision-Making," and participants will discuss institutional structures, policies, and procedures to facilitate public participation in sustainable development initiatives, with a particular focus on how best to promote gender mainstreaming. Future dialogues will address: biodiversity and forest ecosystems in economic growth and equity; energy and climate change; integrated water resources management; oceans governance; forest governance; improving environmental performance of the private sector; and risk management and emergency legislation.
13 October 2011: The Caribbean Development Bank's (CDB) Board of Directors approved, on 13 October 2011, a US$470,000 grant to the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) to help it coordinate the Caribbean Community's (CARICOM) climate change strategy and implementation plan.
12 October 2011: The Green Growth Investment Forum, organized by the Mission of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in Brussels, Belgium, from 6-7 October 2011, resulted in agreement on further steps to promote green investment in the Eastern Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
16 October 2011: The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has selected 20 students to receive scholarships to study renewable energy issues at the Masdar Institute for Science and Technology, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
30 September 2011: The Seventh Council Meeting of the Inter-American Biodiversity Information Network (IABIN) met to review IABIN's accomplishments to date, and develop a vision statement and work plan for the next phase of the project.
13 October 2011: The European Commission has unveiled its "Agenda for Change" in EU Development policy as well as a new policy for EU budget support that aim to ensure development aid provides the maximum impact on poverty reduction.
7 October 2011: The Fifth EU-Chile Association Council meeting was held in Brussels, Belgium, on 7 October 2011. The resulting Joint Communiqué addresses the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), climate change and biodiversity, among other issues.
