The Government of Brazil, in partnership with the UN and supported by the Bahia State Government, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Bank, will organize a regional consultation in preparation for the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development (HLMDD), to be held in New York, US, on 23 September 2013. The purpose of the consultation is to promote dialogue among countries in the region, international organizations and civil society, with a view to contributing to the draft outcome from the HLMDD. The Regional Consultation will take place on the theme, "The Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the Sustainable Development Agenda in the Post-2015".

The third LatinoSan is organized by the Panamanian Government with support from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, the Swiss Cooperation and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). It will examine the current state and future prospects for sanitation in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), focusing on emerging challenges and opportunities, and consider the creation of a mechanism to follow-up the commitments made at LatinoSan 2007 and 2010 conferences. On this last point, conference organizers hope to win endorsement in a Declaration of Panama for the idea of creating a Pro-tempore Regional Secretariat for Sanitation.

The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia and other partners is convening a workshop on the role of in-country action to address deforestation and forest degradation in national REDD+ strategies. The workshop will consider six case studies from Brazil, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya and Tanzania in order to discuss: how drivers of deforestation and forest degradation can be addressed through local level projects; ways and means to link projects to national REDD+ processes; and challenges and opportunities associated with nesting local REDD+ action within national REDD+ strategies.
