17 October 2011: International organizations participated in events across the world marking World Food Day on 17 October 2011 under the theme: “Food prices – from crisis to stability.”
13 October 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a US$2 million grant to finance a more energy efficient tourism industry in the Caribbean. The Caribbean Hotel Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Action– Advanced Program (CHENACT–AP) was presented during the Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum (CREF).
12 October 2011: The Latin American Development Bank (CAF) and a French municipal consortium agreed to cooperate in helping cities in CAF member countries manage their solid wastes.
This meeting will include the meetings of: the Forest Investment Program (FIP) Sub-Committee; the Scaling Up Renewable Energy Programme (SPREP) Sub-Committee; the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) Sub-Committee; the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) Trust Fund Committee; and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) Trust Fund Committee.
The Annual Meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) gathers finance ministers from Latin America to discuss development priorities and provide guidance to the Bank. A series of seminars on topics of interest to participants will be sponsored prior to the opening of the meeting.
6 October 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will finance Panama's development of a policy for disaster risk management and climate change adaptation with a US$100 million loan.
3 October 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is partnering with the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) to launch a programme for companies in Central America to adopt clean technologies and improve their energy efficiency.
30 September 2011: The sixth Latin American and Caribbean Carbon Forum concluded in San José, Costa Rica, with calls by carbon project developers and the private sector to clarify the future of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and other carbon finance options.
27 September 2011: The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), and the Governments of Canada and the UK co-organized the First Latin American Regional Conference on Marine Energy, which was attended by representatives from governments and the private sector, as well as marine energy specialists.
23 September 2011: The Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD), the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Global Water Partnership - Central America (GWP-CA) recently organized a workshop titled “Regional Development in the Context of Water and Climate Change."
