The 38th sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies to the UNFCCC are expected to take place in June 2014.
11 December 2011: After extended negotiations over the weekend, the UN Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa, concluded with the adoption of the "Durban Platform," a set of decisions that lay the ground for adopting a legal agreement on climate change as soon as possible, and no later than 2015.
6 December 2011: The UNFCCC Adaptation Programme has launched a database of case studies of actions on adaptation. The database was developed under the Adaptation Private Sector Initiative (PSI) of the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change (NWP).
November 2011: The Environment Ministers of the Central American countries and the Dominican Republic adopted a set of common positions regarding the climate change negotiations to be held in Durban, South Africa, stressing issues related to adaptation, financial assistance and technology transfer.
28 November 2011: The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) designated national authorities (DNAs) of Spain, Saudi Arabia, Côte d'Ivoire and Colombia have been announced as the winners of the 2011 DNA Communicators of the Year Showcase. The showcase was launched in 2010 to share and recognize DNAs' work in promoting the CDM in their countries.
28 November 2011: The UN Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa, opened on 28 November 2011, and will continue until 9 December. The event includes the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the seventh Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 7).
22 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a technical paper (FCCC/TP/2011/5) on water and climate change impacts and adaptation strategies. The 34th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technical Advice (SBSTA 34) requested that the Secretariat prepare a technical paper on water and climate change impacts and adaptation strategies under the Nairobi work programme (NWP) before SBSTA 35.
22 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published submissions (FCCC/AWGLCA/2011/MISC.9/ Add.1) from parties under ideas and proposals on the elements contained in paragraph 1 of the Bali Action Plan (decision 1/CP.13).
22 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published and addendum (FCCC/AWGLCA/2011/MISC.6/Add.5) consisting of 12 further submissions from parties on views on the items relating to a work programme for development of modalities and guidelines listed in decision 1/CP. 16 paragraph 46 (nationally appropriate mitigation commitments or actions by developed country parties).
