29 June 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP)-Risoe Centre has announced the launch of a new publication series titled "Technology Transfer Perspectives," which aims to stimulate debate and information sharing on technology transfer among academics, experts, policy makers, practitioners and other stakeholders, and will include mitigation and adaptation-side approaches.
This event was originally scheduled as the third of three "informal informal" consultations to negotiate the draft Outcome Document. The decision taken by the Bureau on 22 December 2011 canceled the February consultations, rendering this meeting the second informal informal consultation. The Bureau subsequently decided to schedule this event for two weeks, from 23 April-4 May.
Based on the decision taken at the UNCSD Bureau meeting on 22 December 2011, this meeting will be the first "informal informal" consultation to negotiate the draft Outcome Document. This meeting will be followed by the Third Intersessional Meeting, which will take place from 26-27 March.
23 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will lend US$50 million to the Portuguese financial institution Banco Espirito Santo de Investimento SA (BESI), which will in turn lend towards infrastructure, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Latin America.
The initial discussions on the "zero draft" of the Outcome Document for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) will take place from 25-27 January 2012, based on a decision taken by the UNCSD Bureau at its meeting on 22 December 2011. The zero draft will be based on a compilation of the input received by the UNCSD Secretariat from member States and other stakeholders by 1 November 2011.
20 June 2011: The third Central American Renewable Energy Forum (CAREF) was held in New York, US, on 20 June 2011, to discuss models of successful energy policy and regulatory reforms to increase the deployment and integration of renewable energy in national markets, as well as the Central American regional electricity market.
17 June 2011: The International Hydropower Association (IHA) has adopted a Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol, developed jointly by the hydropower industry and social and environmental NGOs, like Oxfam and The Nature Conservancy, among others.
14 June 2011: The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a report on health co-benefits of climate change mitigation in the housing sector, the first of a new series of reports on health in the green economy.
The third part of the 16th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 16) and the third part of the 14th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 14) will take place at the Centro de Convenciones ATLAPA, Panama City, Panama.
14 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a $90 million facility to support on-lending to energy efficiency, cleaner production and renewable energy projects through Colombian financial institutions.
