25 July 2012: The Permanent Mission of Chile to the UN has submitted a “Declaration on the application of Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development” to the Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), on behalf of 10 Latin American and Caribbean governments, for circulation as a document of the Conference.

26 July 2012: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has released the main report from the independent evaluation of the UN's Delivering As One (DaO) Initiative. The report assesses the value of the related reform initiatives, based on experiences of pilot activities in eight countries in joint budgeting, programming, communication, leadership and allocation of resources for development at the national level.

The Secretariat of the Central American Social Integration System's (SISCA) will convene a workshop of the national technical coordinators of the Zoning and Sustainable Development Project for Central America (ODETCA), overseen by the Central American Council on Housing and Human Settlements (CCVAH) and supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), to select territories in Member States (Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama) to participate in the project and plan out the processes for execution of each thematic axis of the project.

10 July 2012: The High-level Segment (HLS) of the 2012 UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) substantive session concluded with the adoption of a ministerial declaration calling for promoting full employment and decent work in order to eradicate poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The HLS was held from 2-9 July 2012, in New York, US, and included the Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) and the 2012 Development Cooperation Forum (DCF).

19 June 2012: The World Summit on Federated States and Regions adopted a declaration on the green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication. Discussions during the Summit addressed best practices in transitioning to a green economy, and various themes related to sustainable development, such as: energy and transport; protection of ecosystems, forests and water; and measures and indicators for a new development model.

The third session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly, IRENA's supreme governing body, will take place on 13-14 January 2013, to finalize remaining institution-building issues, report on its progress to member states, and renew its mandate on encouraging the global uptake of renewable energy. The Assembly will immediately precede the Abu Dhabi International Renewable Energy Conference (ADIREC), the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), and the International Water Summit 2013, which are taking place on 15-17 January 2013. These events are part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
