13 March 2013: The eighth edition of the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) Sustainability Report indicates that, during the fiscal year 2012, the Bank surpassed its 2015 target of committing over one-fourth of its lending to projects dealing with climate change, sustainable energy and environmental sustainability.
27 February 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has reported that the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has now registered over 100 CDM Programmes of Activities (PoAs), achieving a new milestone. Under the CDM PoA, it is possible to have an unlimited number of similar project activities registered under a single programme umbrella.
25 February 2013: The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) has reported on the outcomes of the Delhi Clean Energy Conference, which showcased clean energy progress in emerging economies and initiated the development of a South-South-North Knowledge and Collaboration Partnership in Clean Energy.

5 December 2012: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is providing Suriname a US$15 million Policy Based Programmatic (PBP) loan to reform its power sector and its governance, increase the efficiency of current plants, diversify its energy mix with renewable energy sources and improve power supplies to remote areas.
26 November 2012: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved the final segment of a four-part programmatic policy-based loan (PBL) to develop Peru's new sustainable energy matrix (NSEM).
1 November 2012: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has announced an US$ 88.7 million dollar loan to Companhia Estadual de Geração e Transmissão de Energia Elétrica (CEEE-GT) that will expand hydroelectric power generation in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state.
29 October 2012: The International Energy Agency (IEA) and Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy have published a report laying out a roadmap for doubling global hydroelectricity production by 2050. According to IEA, the achievement of such hydro production levels could prevent up to three billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel plants.
30 September 2012: The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) and the UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Risoe Centre organized a regional workshop for the Caribbean intended to enhance capacity and examine lessons learned regarding the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Programme of Activities (PoA) and Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs).
