IUCN, Global Gender and Climate Alliance Launch Report on Gender and Climate Change [viewed]

26 November 2012: The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA) launched a publication, titled “The Art of Implementation: Gender Strategies Transforming National and Regional Climate Change Decision Making,” on the sidelines of the Doha Climate Change Conference. The publication showcases actions by women addressing mitigation or adaptation in 11 developing countries or regions.

Event: Meeting of Government Experts on the Management of Socio-Environmental Conflict [viewed]

The Department of Democratic Sustainability and Special Missions of the Organization of American States (OAS) Secretariat will convene a Meeting of Government Experts on the Management of Socio-Environmental Conflict for the Central American and the Andean Regions to reflect, analyze and debate the dynamics of "socio-environmental" conflict in participating member States and possible frameworks for managing such conflicts. The meeting will specific look at citizen participation in public policy formation, prior consultations, early warning systems and dialogue as a tool for socio-environmental conflict management.

28 November 2012: The UN University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) and CARE International have released a comparative study identifying food insecurity and rainfall variability as key drivers of human mobility. The study is based on empirical research in Bangladesh, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Peru, Tanzania, Thailand and Viet Nam.

IICA, GIZ Help Costa Rica Prepare NAMAs for Coffee, Waste and Public Transport Sectors [viewed]

23 November 2012: The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Germany's international cooperation agency (GIZ) and Costa Rica's Environment Ministry (MINAET) are assisting that country's coffee, solid waste management and public transport sectors in preparing Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMAs) for their sectors to gain financing for reducing their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
