Event: A Catalyst for Change: Increasing Impact through Combining Environmental and Poverty Reduction Policies [viewed]
This side event to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) will showcase the integration of pro-poor and sound environmental management into national development plans and policies. High-level representatives from Bhutan, Rwanda and Uruguay will share their experiences on combining inclusive development with sustainable management of natural wealth. Participants will get to learn how these countries have been able to combine more inclusive development with sustainable management of natural wealth, through support from the joint UN Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Environment programme (UNEP) Poverty-Environment Initiative (PEI).
18 June 2012: On the occasion of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), the city of Rio de Janeiro and the World Bank launched the Low Carbon City Development Program.
16 June 2012: The Government of Mexico and the World Bank released a joint report on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G20) Summit convening in Los Cabos, Mexico, titled “Improving the Assessment of Disaster Risks to Strengthen Financial Resilience.” The report outlines how the G20, the World Bank, and other international partners can cooperate with national and local authorities to address disaster and financial resilience risks.
12 June 2012: The 22nd Meeting of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) concluded its annual session, addressing various agenda items, including the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Convention.
11 June 2012: At the opening of the Governing Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and alongside a special session on quinoa, Bolivian President Evo Morales was appointed as the FAO's Special Ambassador for the International Year of Quinoa. 
June 2012: The third issue of "The Road to Rio+20: For a Development-led Economy" published by the UN Conference on Trade and Environment (UNCTAD) contains two articles on experiences with innovative approaches to biodiversity conservation in Latin America: the Yasuni-ITT Initiative in Ecuador; and the Mesoamerican Corridor in Mexico.
30 May 2012: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) organized a regional workshop titled "The Impact of Glacier Retreat in the Andes: International Multidisciplinary Network for Adaptation Strategies" under the auspices of its International Hydrological Programme (IHP), and Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme.
7 June 2012: The World Bank and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) received the inaugural Development Impact Honors award from the US Department of the Treasury for their work in protecting the world's largest rainforest in Brazil.
