UNEP/GRID-Arendal Newsletter Reports on GEF-Funded “Blue Forests” Project [viewed]
January 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP)/GRID-Arendal Marine Programme has released the January issue of its newsletter (Marine Newsletter #1), featuring articles on: the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded demonstration project on the incorporation of carbon and other ecosystem services values into financial markets; the release of the State of the Mediterranean Marine and Coastal Environment Report; and the launch of the World Ocean Assessment website.
December 2012: The UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) has released a report, titled “The Impact of Climate Change on Urban Settlements in Colombia,” which finds that the poor face greater exposure to climate change. It stresses that urban adaptation policy has been neglected in Colombia, which has not mainstreamed adaptation in its national policies. 
30 January 2013: The Program on Forests (PROFOR) announced the release of a publication titled "Financial and Economic Evaluation Guidelines for Community Forestry Projects in Latin America." The Guidelines consider market and non-market costs and benefits, and are available in English and Spanish.
24 January 2013: The 6th EU-Brazil Summit discussed a range of issues for cooperation between the EU and Brazil, including the outcomes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) and the Doha Climate Change Conference, as well as renewal of the EU-Brazil strategic partnership.
January 2013: Edited by Isabel López Noriega, Michael Halewood and Isabel Lapeña, Bioversity International has published a volume that includes four case studies highlighting the incentives, disincentives, opportunities and constraints for Kenya, Morocco, Peru and the Philippines in the implementation of the Multilateral System (MLS) of access and benefit-sharing (ABS) established under the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR), as well as the measures that could be adopted at the national level to advance the Treaty's implementation.
21 January 2013: The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) has chosen Mexico City as the winner of the 2013 Sustainable Transport Award. The city is being awarded for its sustainable transportation initiatives in 2012, which include expanding the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, piloting an on-street parking reform program, expanding a public bike system, and revitalizing the public spaces Alameda Central and Plaza Tlaxcoaque.
28 January 2013: The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) has elected Néstor Osorio, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the UN, as its 69th President.
28 January 2013: The Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention) reported that the Government of Ecuador has added four new Wetlands of International Importance. 
28 January 2013: “Brazil's Eco-stoves empower indigenous women,” the story of a Brazilian family using clean, economical and green cookstoves provided through a UN Development Programme (UNDP), has been selected as the winning story in an annual storytelling competition that showcases UNDP's work around the world. 
January 2013: The 29th issue of the newsletter of the Associated Programme on Flood Management (APFM), a joint initiative of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP), highlights, among other things, efforts to assess and promote integrated flood management (IFM) and its participation in the 14th session of the Commission for Hydrology (CHy) and the second European Conference on FLOODrisk Management.
