UN-HABITAT Highlights Urban Adaptation Challenges in Colombia [viewed]

UN-HABITATDecember 2012: The UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) has released a report, titled “The Impact of Climate Change on Urban Settlements in Colombia,” which finds that the poor face greater exposure to climate change. It stresses that urban adaptation policy has been neglected in Colombia, which has not mainstreamed adaptation in its national policies.

30 January 2013: The Program on Forests (PROFOR) announced the release of a publication titled "Financial and Economic Evaluation Guidelines for Community Forestry Projects in Latin America." The Guidelines consider market and non-market costs and benefits, and are available in English and Spanish.

Bioversity Publication Focuses on ITPGR MLS Implementation in Kenya, Morocco, Philippines, Peru [viewed]

January 2013: Edited by Isabel López Noriega, Michael Halewood and Isabel Lapeña, Bioversity International has published a volume that includes four case studies highlighting the incentives, disincentives, opportunities and constraints for Kenya, Morocco, Peru and the Philippines in the implementation of the Multilateral System (MLS) of access and benefit-sharing (ABS) established under the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR), as well as the measures that could be adopted at the national level to advance the Treaty's implementation.

Mexico City Receives 2013 Sustainable Transport Award [viewed]

21 January 2013: The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) has chosen Mexico City as the winner of the 2013 Sustainable Transport Award. The city is being awarded for its sustainable transportation initiatives in 2012, which include expanding the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, piloting an on-street parking reform program, expanding a public bike system, and revitalizing the public spaces Alameda Central and Plaza Tlaxcoaque.
