5 October 2012: The Latin American Energy Organization's (OLADE) new Subregional Office for the Caribbean convened a meeting of agencies involved in energy policy and projects in the region to define a "Subregional Energy Agenda" outlining objectives, priorities and lines of action consistent with the needs and policies of OLADE's Caribbean member States, namely Barbados, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

9 October 2012: The 64th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) addressed issues related to energy efficiency, ballast water management and ship-recycling. The session also led to the establishment of a new Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA) in the Saba Bank, in the north-eastern Caribbean area of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

3 October 2012: The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the German International Development Agency (GIZ) have signed the implementing contract for a two-year, €4,725,000 cooperation programme on low-carbon economic growth and social cohesion in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), which was agreed by ECLAC and Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in November 2011.
