Event: Rio Conventions Pavilion at Rio+20 [viewed]

The Rio Conventions Pavilion at Rio+20 is a collaborative outreach activity of the Secretariats of the Rio Conventions (UNFCCC, UNCCD and CBD), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and 25 other international, national and local partners. Event: RAC/REMPEITC 6th Steering Committee Meeting [viewed]

The Sixth Steering Committee of the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency, Information and Training Center for the Wider Caribbean (RAC/REMPEITC) will consider the Center's 2011-2012 work program and strategic plan. RAC/REMPEITC was created in 1995 by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Caribbean Regional Coordinating Center (CAR/RCU) to assist countries of the Wider Caribbean in developing their national capabilities to implement the Cartagena Convention Oil Spill Protocol, the IMO's 1990 International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response, and Cooperation and other IMO Conventions and Protocols relevant to preparedness for and response to oil, hazardous and noxious substances releases, and other marine environmental threats from ships in the Wider Caribbean Region.

16 February 2012: The US, Bangladesh, Canada, Ghana, Mexico and Sweden, with the support of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), have launched the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants, which aims to reduce short-lived climate pollutants, carbon, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and methane.
