6 December 2012: The International Partnership on Mitigation and Measuring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) has published the second edition of its quarterly Mitigation Newsletter for November 2012. The Newsletter includes reports of recent activities on mitigation, including on technical workshops held in Chile, Thailand and Costa Rica.
4 December 2012: Participants at the Doha Climate Change Conference celebrated the accomplishments of nine public-private "Lighthouse Activities," pioneering initiatives curbing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while yielding benefits for the urban poor. The concept behind the activities is to highlight inspiring mitigation and adaptation activities, and to spur innovation and increase capacity for future initiatives.
1 December 2012: The German Agency for International Cooperation's (GIZ) project on "Transfer: Towards Climate-friendly Transport Technologies and Measures" (TRANSfer) has released an updated version of a handbook titled "Navigating Transport NAMAs: Practical Handbook for the Design and Implementation of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in the Transport Sector."
This meeting will include the meetings of: the Forest Investment Program (FIP) Sub-Committee; the Scaling Up Renewable Energy Programme (SPREP) Sub-Committee; the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) Sub-Committee; the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) Trust Fund Committee; and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) Trust Fund Committee.
3 December 2012: The Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) launched the UN Alliance on Climate Change Education, Training and Public Awareness along with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
1 December 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a booklet, titled "Seeds of Knowledge," which suggests that grassroots, community-involved projects around the world are already playing an essential role in the response to climate change, and that these projects can guide policies.
15 November 2012: The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) recently held a technical forum discussing five case studies from Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries on climate change and agriculture.
November 2012: The Second Regional Symposium on Energy Efficiency discussed ideas, proposals and priorities of South American countries for potential elements for an Energy and Climate Partnership (ECPA) Work Plan on Regional Cooperation in Energy Efficiency.
21 November 2012: The UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) has formally launched a regional virtual knowledge platform on climate change.
November 2012: The International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV (Measuring, Reporting and Verification) has released the second edition of its quarterly Mitigation Newsletter. The October 2012 newsletter features the Partnership's first Autumn School on MRV, as well as a review of capacity-building workshops in Chile, Thailand and Costa Rica.
