At its 27th meeting, the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is expected to hold a 10-day, text-based negotiating session focusing on traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions.

The conversation on ‘Adversity and urban planning: Designing safer, more resilient cities' is part of three e-Debates on urban equity in development that URB.im is hosting in advance of the Seventh World Urban Forum (WUF 7), which will take place under the theme, ‘Urban Equity in Development—Cities for Life'. This conversation will discuss the conflicts, risks and tradeoffs faced by city planners as they seek to balance stakeholder interests and prepare for natural and human-made disasters. Participants will discuss approaches and strategies for meeting the needs of diverse stakeholders, allocating resources fairly and sustainably and closing gaps and scaling solutions. At the close of the Sixth Session of the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Open Working Group (OWG 6) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Co-Chairs outlined options for the next phase of the process. The dates of a further set of formal OWG meetings were finalized at the conclusion of OWG 7. They will take place on: 3-5 March (OWG 9), 31 March - 4 April (OWG 10), 5-9 May (OWG 11), 16-20 June (OWG 12) and 14-18 July 2014 (OWG 13).

The seventh meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Informal Working Group to study issues relating to the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction (BBNJ) is the first of three meetings (April 2014, June 2014 and January 2015) to discuss the scope, parameters and feasibility of a possible new international instrument on marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The outcome of these meetings is expected to contribute to a decision to be taken at the sixty-nineth session of the UN General Assembly on the development of a new international instrument under UNCLOS.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) State Action Plan Seminar for the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NAAC) region will provide national action plan focal points with information on how to develop and update State action plans, with a focus on data collection and mitigation measures undertaken by States.
