IDB Provides Credit to Finance Sustainable Infrastructure Projects in Latin America
19 December 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a six-year, US$200 million revolving credit for the Spanish company Abenoga to finance sustainable infrastructure projects in Latin America. The credit line will fund costs associated with the development of initial stages of projects, such as environmental and social impact studies for power transmission and generation projects, especially from renewable sources such as solar, as well as in water, sanitation and health concessions. The Bank says the credit line could facilitate the development of infrastructure projects worth up to US$1.2 billion in Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru.
The credit facility is provided through IDB's Structured and Corporate Finance Department (SCF) which manages all IDB non-sovereign loan guarantee operations for large-scale projects, companies and financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean. [IDB Press Release]
